This fish derives its name from the prominent facial barbels that resemble cat whiskers and belongs to the Siluriformes order of ray finned fish. They represent a food staple for many cultures and are farmed and caught wild. Though there are many different species of catfish, most are capable of becoming enormous given the right circumstances.
